7 ways to say hurry up

Several times, we have all encountered the shortage of words and we use the same words again and again to express our thoughts. Can we replace the repetitive word with another similar word which has the same meaning? We definitely have faced situations where we are about to miss a train or we are getting really late for work. In such instances, we mostly use a common phrase “Let’s hurry up”. Instead, we can say other phrases to convey our urgency. Here are seven ways to say to hurry up.

There is no time to lose – This phrase can be used to explain that each and every minute counts and you cannot lose even a minute.

Example - Lidia, there is no time to lose. Can you please get ready as fast as possible?

Let’s pick up the pace – to complete the work faster by increasing the speed of the current work.

Example - Come on, Sam, let’s pick up the pace! It's starting to get dark, and we've still a mile until we reach our camp.

Let’s speed up – It is similar to the previous one. We can use this when we want to do a work faster in order to complete the task.

Example – We will never manage to complete our project before the next class. Therefore, let’s speed up.

Come on – Encourage someone in order to finish a task as fast as possible.

Example – Come on Ted, I strongly believe you can complete the work if you put a bit more of effort and time.

Move along – To get moving instead of stopping a work in middle.

Example – Children, please move along and do not break the line. We must complete a circle demonstration for our annual drill.

Get a move on – To continue moving to avoid being late.
